James William “Small Change” Havens, 81, formerly of Manchester, passed away Saturday, November 13, 2021 at his son’s residence in Wellington, KY. James was born April 13, 1940, son of the late Charles Havens and Loise Hanson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene Havens.
Small Change honorably served in the United States Army for 3 years. He was a part of the Local Union #232 and worked in Cement Masonry. After the past 10 years, he retired as a teacher of Cement Masonry at Job Corp in Frenchburg, KY, teaching underprivileged kids and helping them get jobs. His favorite pastime was hunting and fishing; he also loved boating on the Ohio River.
He is survived by his 2 sons, Kelly (Linda) Havens of Manchester and Mark Havens of Wellington, KY; companion, Bonnie Ingram of Frenchburg KY; grandchildren, Eric and Roy Havens, Elizabeth Stevenson, Tyler and Kristen Havens; 5 great-grandchildren, Brayleih Henderson-Irwin, Easton Havens, Isabella and Alaina Stevenson and Abrianna Havens; friend and mother of his children, Judy Havens.
Graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at Manchester Cemetery with Pastor Dale Little officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Adams County Honor Guard. Arrangements are entrusted to Wilson Funeral Home in Manchester.
